Calling All Spelling Bee Competitors

Dear Parents,

This year, the Scripps National Spelling Bee has developed an online testing platform that will allow Huntley Hills Elementary & Montessori School to host a school spelling bee program remotely from your homes for 4th and 5th grade students.

In place of our traditional spelling bee program, we will hold one level of competition through online spelling and vocabulary tests. The first step to spelling bee participation is for you to register for the Scripps National Spelling Bee's online testing platform by visiting https://online-test.spellingbee.com . We encourage you to watch this video tutorial that will walk you through the registration process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htXzjpnMijc

Once you have registered, we will assign the appropriate test to your child. We will notify all parents when the test window opens and how long the test window will remain open. Your child must complete the test before the given deadline; these tests can be taken on any device with a web browser, including desktop computers, laptops, tablets and smart phones. Please do not assist or coach your child in any manner while they are taking these tests in a quiet setting.

Our school champion will then move on to represent Huntley Hills in the Georgia Association of Educators' regional spelling bee program, which also may include online tests in lieu of in-person spelling bee events.

Again, the first step to spelling bee participation is to register at online-test.spellingbee.com. There will be a practice test the student may take. We will begin assigning Spelling Bee tests to students as soon as we see they have registered.

If you have already registered in the online testing platform for another child, you can log in to your account and add an additional child to that same parent account. There is no need to register a different email address for each child in your household.

Our school's testing window will open up Monday, Nov. 30, and will close on Friday, Dec. 11. The school will notify registered students when the window opens and closes. We look forward to having your child compete in our very first Virtual Spelling Bee!
