Girl Scouts has new troops starting! Girl Scouts has programming specifically designed for girls in grades K - 12. If your girl is interested in being a Girl Scout, please email Sheila Gillispie at chambleegirlscouts@gmail.com with your name, her name and grade, if she has friends that are also interested in joining, and what school she currently attends. Girl Scouts will have opportunities through the year to participate in virtual events (at the local, regional and national levels), camping, field trips, STEM activities, hiking, badge workshops, service projects, and more! For now, most meetings and events will happen in the virtual space. Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta does have guidelines for very limited in-person meetings.
There will be information sessions in September via Zoom for both parent/guardians and for the girls to ask questions and get more details about the opportunities at each level. Girl Scout membership is $35 per year. There are also troop fees which vary. Peach State, Wellcare, Amerigroup and CareSource will cover part or all of the membership fees.
A troop starts at four girls and two adult leaders that aren’t related to each other. Are you interested in co-leading or leading a troop? The Chamblee Service Unit has volunteer mentors who will answer your questions and help with resources available to you as you get started.
