A huge congratulations to one of our teachers, Kristi Lachlan. Ms. Lachlan has been awarded a Teacher Education Scholarship by the American Montessori Society (AMS). She received a scholarship in honor of the AMS 2019 Living Legacy Marta Donahoe. We are so proud of Ms. Lachlan.
Ms. Lachlan is a native of Atlanta who is excited to join the 2020-2021 cohort of the Elementary Montessori teacher training program at MTEI this summer. She has deep roots in Montessori education going back to 2003 when she enrolled her oldest child in a Primary Montessori program. In 2005, she joined the staff of that same program as an office assistant.
Over the next several years, she evolved from Montessori parent to employee, to educator, and eventually to Executive Director of a private Montessori school in Alaska. After her Alaska adventure, she returned home to Atlanta, worked in traditional early childhood administration, and completed three MS in Education degrees. Last Fall, she joined us at Huntley Hills Elementary & Montessori School as a Lower Elementary
guide. She is excited to return to Montessori education, to be a part of supporting Montessori in public schools, and to formalize her 14 years of grassroots experience/training through formal education with MTEI. Many thanks to AMS for helping make this opportunity possible!
